Cost of living reality check -Socorro

Hey, I'm originally from Raleigh and Homes are going for about $131,200 on average. Household incomes average around $52,100 in Socorro. You can expect to pay around $1,036 for rent here. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Friendly people
- Growing food scene
- Low crime in most areas
- Easy commute

Cons:
- High property taxes
- Boring for young people
- Chain restaurants dominate
Am I overthinking this? The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.
