Random thought, I work in retail and Average temperature is around 34--F, so bundle up in winter. Crime rate is something to consider -Soldotna sits at 273.3 per 100K. Rent is about $1,104/month for a decent place. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Thoughts? I'm a chef and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much stable but now it's decent.
