Is Soledad worth moving to in 2026?

Hey everyone, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Median household income is $93,204, which feels pretty solid for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What do you all think? Cheers. The weather takes some getting used to.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Riverside area are decent. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely challenging and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Springfield) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 6 years ago. The main reasons were family and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 13 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
