Best and worst neighborhoods in Solon

Hi all, Rent is about $1,460/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 1.6%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $135,180, which feels pretty solid for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,460 for rent here. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Low taxes
- Active local events

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Limited public transit
- Not very walkable
- Limited cultural events
- Not enough green space
There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Bought a house here in 2016 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Houston about 13 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is solid.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Definitely worth checking out..

I'm a marketing manager and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is average and there's always something going on.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The public transit is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
