Cost of living reality check -Solon

Alright, We have two kids and The unemployment rate is 1.6%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $135,180 in Solon. Median household income is $135,180, which feels pretty solid for the area. Poverty rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 23,970 people. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Low crime in most areas
- Lots of new development
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Hot summers
- Limited dining options
- Boring for young people
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Thanks! The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely excellent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Downtown) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Westside for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The outdoor recreation scene is solid

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Nashville about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is decent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Hope this helps!.
