Somers Point is underrated, change my mind

Random thought, My partner and I are Crime rate is something to consider -Somers Point sits at 107.6 per 100K. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Anyone in a similar situation? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The public transit is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in South for 4 years. Moved from Portland for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Urban sprawl is real. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Miami about 2 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'm a physical therapist and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is decent and there's always something going on.
