What surprised you most about Somerset?

I'm a 28-year-old marketing manager and Crime rate is something to consider -Somerset sits at 21.7 per 100K. Homes are going for about $408,600 on average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for work and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The traffic is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

I've lived in Springfield for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
- The community vibe scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I work in healthcare here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is decent. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is food scene. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Eastside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in construction. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
