Pros and cons of Somersworth after 10 years

We have two kids and Homes are going for about $295,800 on average. The median home value here is around $295,800, which seems about average. The unemployment rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Low taxes
- Lots of new development

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Not very walkable
- High property taxes
- Limited cultural events
- Chain restaurants dominate
What would you do? The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely improving and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
