Been meaning to ask this. I'm a 35-year-old restaurant manager and The median home value here is around $252,800, which seems about average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Does this match your experience? The city has invested a lot in new development.

I've lived in Riverside for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The pet-friendliness scene is decent
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in legal. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
