Is it worth buying in South Bend?

Hey, My family moved here when I was a kid. It's a a mid-size city city with about 103K people. Rent is about $1,000/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $1,000 for rent here. The median home value here is around $124,500, which is actually reasonable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

I work in hospitality here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is better than expected. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Oak Park for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
- The dating scene scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..
