South Charleston is underrated, change my mind

Longtime lurker here, Born and raised here. The median home value here is around $144,800, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 21.4%, which is higher than I expected. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Riverside. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The pet-friendliness is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..
