Things South Daytona needs to improve

With a population of 13,322, South Daytona is a small town. The median home value here is around $210,500, which is actually reasonable. Household incomes average around $54,931 in South Daytona. Rent is about $1,287/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 72--F, so it's warm year-round. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Pros:
- Easy commute
- Strong sense of community
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Not very walkable
- Limited cultural events
- Chain restaurants dominate

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options
- The community vibe scene is solid

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 2 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.
