Is South Fulton a good place to live?
OK so It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 13 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Downtown for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The housing market scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 29, moved here 14 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Uptown and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Affordable housing options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Homeless population growing downtown
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The cultural scene situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for families. decent vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$80K here.
