First time home buyer in South Gate

Hello, I'm a 40-year-old HR manager and Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a smaller city city with about 91,836 people. The suburbs are where most families end up. Is this normal for South Gate? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely tough and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
