Best and worst neighborhoods in South Gate Ridge

Been meaning to ask this. I'm retired and Average temperature is around 74--F, so it's warm year-round. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,581 for rent here. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Does this match your experience? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Meadowbrook. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like seafood.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from LA about 13 years ago. The main reasons were weather and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is solid.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
