Best restaurants in South Holland?

Hello, Crime rate is something to consider -South Holland sits at 359.2 per 100K. Poverty rate is 8.7%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,914 for rent here. It's a a small town city with about 21,016 people. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What are your go-to spots? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Oak Park. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in retail. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Nashville it's challenging.

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much manageable but now it's average.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 44, moved here 1 years ago from New York. I've lived in East and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The dating scene situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for remote workers. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $70K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely challenging and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Old Town) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the West side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 11 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 6 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is underrated.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
