Just moved to South Jordan, any tips?

OK so I work in manufacturing and The unemployment rate is 1.5%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $126,400 in South Jordan. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Worth the trade-offs? Cheers. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 27, moved here 2 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in West and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Diverse dining options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Limited shopping options
3. The walkability situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for young professionals. underrated vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in retail. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 42, moved here 6 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Uptown and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Can feel isolated
3. The pet-friendliness situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for singles. improving vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The safety is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Old Town for 3 years. Moved from LA for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Limited high-paying job options. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 7/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much manageable but now it's surprisingly good.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from San Francisco about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is improving.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
