Living in South Jordan -the reality

First post here. Been living here since 2015. Crime rate is something to consider -South Jordan sits at 94.0 per 100K. Household incomes average around $126,400 in South Jordan. With a population of 80,331, South Jordan is a smaller city. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Pros:
- Good schools
- Low taxes
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Limited dining options
- High property taxes
- Lack of diversity
- Poor road conditions
- Limited cultural events
The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 56, moved here 14 years ago from Boston. I've lived in West and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The outdoor recreation situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for singles. solid vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $40K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
