Hi all, I'm a 30-year-old marketing manager and The unemployment rate is 1.5%, which is pretty low. With a population of 80,331, South Jordan is a smaller city. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Is this normal for South Jordan? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Came here for weather and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The food scene is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Minneapolis about 12 years ago. The main reasons were weather and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in South for 3 years. Moved from Seattle for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Far from beaches/mountains. And safety can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 5/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Denver it's challenging.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
