Remote worker thinking about South Lakes

Anyone else feel this way? Poverty rate is 12.6%, which is around average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What do you all think? Any help is appreciated.

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Lakewood for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- The nightlife scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The healthcare is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Minneapolis about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is average.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 4 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in The Heights. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in tech. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from San Diego about 5 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
