Is South Laurel a good place to live?

Random thought, I've been here for 11 years and With a population of 27,736, South Laurel is a smaller city. You can expect to pay around $1,795 for rent here. Poverty rate is 8.9%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Let me know your thoughts. Any help is appreciated. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in legal. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Feel free to reach out with questions..
