Is South Lyon a good place to live?

Curious what people think. Been living here since 2023. Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. The median home value here is around $280,900, which seems about average. The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in government. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

No regrets on my end..
