Couple moving to South Monroe from out of state

Longtime lurker here, Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What do you all think? TIA!

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Houston about 2 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is excellent.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.

Used to live on the Highland side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. the quality of life is solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 3 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
