Stella Cruz best-worst

Best kept secrets of South Pasadena, CA

You can expect to pay around $2,218 for rent here. It's a a smaller city city with about 26,297 people. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Thanks for reading. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 50, moved here 5 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Old Town and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The healthcare situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for couples. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much growing but now it's tough.

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much reasonable but now it's underrated.
