Hello, The median home value here is around $1,545,100, which is pretty steep. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in The Heights area are decent. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Charlotte about 10 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is underrated.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.
