Job market in South Patrick Shores for tech?

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a college student here and With a population of 6,726, South Patrick Shores is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,586 for rent here. Rent is about $1,586/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 73--F, so it's warm year-round. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Boston it's excellent.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 57, moved here 2 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Can feel isolated
3. The nightlife situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for remote workers. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in education. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

No regrets on my end..
