There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The pet-friendliness is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Phoenix about 10 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Winters are long and cold
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Used to live on the Cedar Grove side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely underrated and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (North) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Eastside. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Hope this helps!.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.
