Cheapest neighborhoods in South Portland?

So, We're a young couple and The median home value here is around $405,800, which is pretty steep. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Worth the trade-offs? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in engineering. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Definitely worth checking out..

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in tech. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
