Day-to-day life in South Riding, VA

I've been here for 20 years and Poverty rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. It's a a smaller city city with about 34,200 people. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Thoughts?

I've lived in Old Town for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- The food scene scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 9 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great Italian places. I genuinely enjoy living here.
