Moving from Indianapolis to South Riding next month

Hey folks, Household incomes average around $190,701 in South Riding. Rent is about $2,853/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. Poverty rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Thoughts? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 48, moved here 6 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Riverside and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Can feel isolated
3. The traffic situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for singles. improving vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
