Should I move to South Riding or stay in Indianapolis?
I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Median household income is $190,701, which feels pretty solid for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a accountant, 46, moved here 6 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Riverside and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The community vibe situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for couples. average vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $60K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Used to live on the North side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The traffic is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in South for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The dating scene scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Meadowbrook area are excellent. Kids love it here.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a chef, 52, moved here 3 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Eastside and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The public transit situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for retirees. average vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $50K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in education. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.
