The median home value here is around $689,400, which is pretty steep. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Boston it's tough.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Tampa about 12 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is decent.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a accountant, 35, moved here 10 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in East and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Great outdoor activities nearby
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The safety situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for young professionals. decent vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $80K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'm a data analyst and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.
