Homes are going for about $940,900 on average. What do you all think? The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The cultural scene is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely solid and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Eastside) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in engineering. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Denver about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.
