Not sure if this has been asked before, but You can expect to pay around $1,329 for rent here. With a population of 26,277, South Salt Lake is a smaller city. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Has anyone dealt with this? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor recreation is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Austin about 7 years ago. The main reasons were family and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..
