Hey, Crime rate is something to consider -South San Francisco sits at 243.2 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 64,487 people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Should I be concerned? Thanks in advance! It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 6 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The school system is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Riverside for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The community vibe scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Charlotte it's challenging.
