Job market in South San Jose Hills for tech?

Hey folks, Military spouse here. The suburbs are where most families end up. Any advice would be great.

I've lived in Highland for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options
- The safety scene is solid

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from San Diego about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is average.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

Used to live on the West side, now on the Fairview side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Sunset) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The nightlife is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 6 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is food scene. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The dating scene is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..
