Commute times in South Sioux City -how bad?

Longtime lurker here, Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. The median home value here is around $160,900, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $160,900 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -South Sioux City sits at 234.9 per 100K. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Has anyone dealt with this? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 7 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- The public transit scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. No regrets on my end..
