Grocery stores in South Valley Stream -recommendations?
Hi all, I've been here for 14 years and Poverty rate is 4.6%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $138,783 in South Valley Stream. Homes are going for about $641,300 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I've lived in Eastside for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- The public transit scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Oak Park for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The community vibe scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
