Housing in South Valley Stream compared to San Diego
Been meaning to ask this. I'm a teacher here and Household incomes average around $138,783 in South Valley Stream. The unemployment rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What would you do? Appreciate any input.

I work in consulting here and the quality of life is solid. The job market for my field is tough. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely average and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much competitive but now it's improving.
