Starting a business in South Venice?

So, I'm a 54-year-old sales rep and Poverty rate is 5.5%, which is pretty low. With a population of 17,399, South Venice is a small town. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Has anyone dealt with this?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 9 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Used to live on the South side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Eastside. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in government. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Southern.

No regrets on my end..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 12 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is challenging.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- The job market scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much affordable but now it's hit or miss.
