Cost of living reality check -South Whittier

Longtime lurker here, Born and raised here. Household incomes average around $98,974 in South Whittier. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. TIA! Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Greenfield. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in retail. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Asian.
