First time home buyer in South Whittier

First post here. I'm a 47-year-old restaurant manager and Poverty rate is 7.4%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $641,700 on average. Median household income is $98,974, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $641,700, which is pretty steep. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Thoughts? Looking forward to hearing from you all. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..
