Southbridge Town quality of life -am I missing something?

First post here. I'm retired and The unemployment rate is 4.7%, which is about average. It's a a small town city with about 17,806 people. Homes are going for about $267,000 on average. Household incomes average around $59,397 in Southbridge Town. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Low crime in most areas
- Diverse community
- Low taxes
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- High property taxes
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Boring for young people
- Limited cultural events
- Not enough green space
What neighborhoods would you suggest? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. I've lived in Lakewood for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- The nightlife scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Sunset for 9 years. Moved from San Diego for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is solid - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Dating scene is rough. Bugs and humidity in summer. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 9/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
