Longtime lurker here, Am I overthinking this? The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great BBQ places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I'm a contractor and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Atlanta about 9 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Lakewood for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
- The walkability scene is improving
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Boston about 5 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is challenging.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Used to live on the Springfield side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
