Dog-friendly places in Southern Pines?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Median household income is $83,681, which feels pretty solid for the area. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I'm a real estate agent and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in tech. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The school system is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 28, moved here 5 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Uptown and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The housing market situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for families. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $70K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The nightlife is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in North for 13 years. Moved from Boston for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Rising rent and home prices. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 5/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
