Hello, With a population of 10,377, Spanish Fort is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Spanish Fort sits at 170.1 per 100K. Household incomes average around $101,574 in Spanish Fort. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Portland it's hit or miss.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great Mediterranean places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much pricey but now it's excellent.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely better than expected and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (West) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a lawyer, 52, moved here 6 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Midtown and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The nightlife situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for couples. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $50K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 3 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Boston about 5 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.
