Hey folks, My partner and I are Crime rate is something to consider -Spartanburg sits at 1,186.6 per 100K. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. Thanks for reading. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Phoenix about 12 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 4 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..
