As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much reasonable but now it's improving.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Denver about 13 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Feel free to reach out with questions..
