What I wish I knew before living in Spirit Lake

Hey everyone, I'm a teacher here and With a population of 5,469, Spirit Lake is a small town. Median household income is $73,627, which feels about average for the area. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What neighborhoods would you suggest? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I've lived in Riverside for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The healthcare scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.
