OK so I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider -Spiro sits at 276.4 per 100K. It's a a small town city with about 2,205 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely better than expected and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 12 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a chef, 25, moved here 2 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The healthcare situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for remote workers. average vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
